I’ve recently found two things that to has helped me with frosty fingers… it will sound silly, I know… but keep a silly, open mind and try it some time!
My raynauds gets really bad in winter, basically my fingertips turn white and blue… and both of hands are basically 80-90% always VERY COLD!!! I always get comments after a handshake… any ideas for a good comeback? I always just say; I’m a cold frog, or I’m a vampire…lol.
OK! I am not trying to turn you into a housemaid. Ironing is simply not my favourite thing to do either!!! But since I have Lupus, I haven’t been able to do much housework around the house. So, when I do feel good and not have to spend time to rest, ironing is one housework I can still accomplished! And it always make me feel good for being able to contribute to housework duties!
I have only noticed that ironing keeps my hands and fingertips warm very recently. It’s the steam, of course! But also, because it has been so cold, I like to run my hands along some of the ironed clothing every now and then… so there’s heat transfers. 🙂
When I am extremely tired, I’d try to time so I only do 30mins or 45 mins worth of ironing then rest. By the end of it, my hands stay warm for at least a few hours and I can tell the blood is circulating through the fingertips because they are nice and pink!!!
Have you heard of this??
I came across a weekend class after watching some African drumming videos on youtube and just made a quick decision to book a spot before my mind try to present many arguments of why I should not go.
I am the last person in the room who’s coordinated when it comes to dancing and music. I love both of them but expressing myself in body movements is extremely challenging and is associated with a lot of body shame that I have growing up.
So, attending this class was really meant to peel me away from my comfort zone and slowly pushes me to be more comfortable and in-tune with myself.
I must say, there were a few embarrassing moments because the group was small and intimate and I was one of the few people that just keep stuffing up or stood frozen as everyone else in the room clap, stomp, click away in harmony with the teacher……..
But… after one hour of clapping, stomping, clicking…. my hands were warm!!! And it’s actually quite a fun activity!!! I just have to get out of my shell a bit more :))
If you live in Melbourne, the teacher holds workshop and classes… please visit: http://www.bodypercussion.com.au
Here’s some kick-ass video from the profs!!! Try it with your peeps! And Dance the Raynauds Away!!!!
